The Family Pot

Here is a cute pot that I found at the Goodwill for only $6. The fruit in the pot is what caught my eye. When I opened it, it looked as if it had never been used before. The nice thing about it is that it is bigger than the pot that I had at home. So I got it.

I call this The Family Pot because it is amazing how many times my family comes home and looks toward the stove at the pot. At some point someone will come over to the stove and lift the lid to see what's cooking in it. If there is nothing cooking in the big pot, they almost look disappointed!

I know that when I use the pot, everyone seems so content and happy to sit down to dinner together. I use it for stews, soups, chili, beans, sauces and making liquids to pour into my canning jars.

Finding The Family Pot for $6 was a deal. Having the family together at dinner...Priceless!

Canning For Seven

Hi Everyone,

It's been awhile since I was here, but I am slowly making progress to come back. My niece and her 3 kids from Florida is living with me and my family. We have a full house now. She recently lost her home in a fire that started from the dryer. She lost everything including her car. Soooo, now there is seven of us in one house. This is a time that I must truly put being frugal as a top priority. I managed to save money by doing some canning. The veggies come from the garden. Yes, canning does take a little time, but it is worth it.

At this time I would also like to thank all the people who donated and helped with my niece and her kids. God Bless you all.

Candles and Candlesticks

Recently I decided that I wanted to clean things out and take a few things to the Goodwill. So I dropped off a few things and turned around to go in and search for a picture frame, but instead found these discontinued candles from Pier 1 Imports for $2.00 each.

Even though they are Christmas candles, you must understand that green is my favorite color anyway.

So I thought that was good enough reason to buy them...right!

Then I went up another isle and found theses two beauties in the back of a shelf for $6 each.

I liked the brass, but wanted to do something different. When I got home I found some left over black satin spray paint. So I took these to a whole new level of loveliness.

The black satin is striking!

To top the candlesticks off, I sat the candles on top!

The 3 candles and the two candlestick cost me a whopping $18.00

SUMMER'S BOUNTY-THE START OF SOMETHING NEW

Hi everyone! I know it's been a while since I was here, as you can see I have been busy with building this garden and revamping my business. Yes, I went from construction to gourmet, organic teas. I am loving it!

We put down weed block first, then the bricks went on top.

This was a lot of lifting and hauling. Wear gloves with rubber under the hands and finger so that you get a great grip on theses brick. You wouldn't want to drop these on your toes. Wear shoes that are functional while doing this kind of work. No toes out.

We added in garden soil. It's a 50/50 mixture of compost and topsoil.

We had to put a cage around these to keep the birds away.

We are going Big Boy and Celebrity tomatoes. I can't wait! I am sooo excited!

My husband saw the Celebrity tomatoes and had to get them since my business is called Celebrity Teas.

The start of something new!

I hope that all of you who take on the challenge of growing anything, have much success. Whether it's in your yard, or a pot, there's something special about growing your own and enjoying the beauty and rewards of all your hard work. We decided that investing in our garden was one of the wonderful things that we could do for our health and save money. We saved money by doing the raised beds ourselves. It cost us under $600.00 to complete.

We started or first garden with the Summer's Bounty Post.

I LOVE TEA!!!!

You know what? I never realized that I had so many teapots. Over the years I have had this small obsession to collect them. I have collected them from thrift stores, garage sales, attics, basements, you name it. I simply love teapots.

For the last two years I had been without work, (because of the economy). The business started getting slow. I have had my own business for 12 years and did not want to let it go. So I decided that I would revamp it, but this time it would be something that I really really love to do. So I prayed on it. I have become a pro at being frugal. That allowed me to venture towards other projects. I learned to save and not waste.

One day I was reading an article that said, "Do what you love," usually the idea is right under you nose. Sooooo, I started thinking, what is it that I do everyday that I enjoy? My mind was racing at the same time I was at a blank. Then one day while sitting in the kitchen drinking my tea I had an epiphany! I thought to myself, IT'S MY TEA....I LOVE TEA! I have been excited every since. I had everything up and running in a matter of weeks.

So now I am in the tea business! I call my teas Celebrity Teas. I feel like a celebrity and I love to celebrate life in every way. God has blessed me to do this. Tea has so many wonderful health benefits. It's just an added extension of my pursuit to get healthy and fit.

Looking Kinda Shady

I found this lamp at the goodwill for $20 bucks. I thought that it had great potential, even though I did not know what to do with it. I knew that I did not like the white shade. It had no color at all.

Here is a close up of the plain white shade.

So one day I just went at it with some acrylic paint. I started mixing the brown, beige and white together.


Then I incorporated some black. At this point I still did not know where I was going with this project. It took on a life of its own.

I added a stencil and painted around it with white paint.

Then I pianted the rim at the top black and added some beads to the bottom to give it some pazazz!

Here it is looking beautiful and unique!
